Campers can explore all art media with professional artists.

Art at Belvoir offers the student artist an opportunity for exploration or total immersion in art studio work. Drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, black and white and digital photography, video, fashion design, and jewelry are offered by the art department in small classes organized by age and skill. Fifteen professional artist/teachers teach the campers in fully equipped art studios. Facilities include two gas fired kilns, many wheels, an etching press, a complete dark room with eight stations, a digital studio, and equipment for sewing and silver work.  Students enjoy working with charcoal, oil paints, watercolor, clay, stone, wood, silver, photo shop and more.

Art majors elect four or more different art classes or can choose to do intensive work in one or more art studios. In addition to class time, young artists have the opportunity to participate in open studio hours, gallery trips, art exhibitions, and talks with professional art guests. Campers focused on other Belvoir programs as theater, dancer or music may enjoy art electives in any of the art studios. Many campers choose painting, jewelry, photography, or ceramics to diversify their camp experience.

The MFA artist teachers, teaching classes of six to eight motivated young women, make  Belvoir’s art program truly outstanding. Whether the camper is developing her portfolio for art school or exploring a new interest, the Belvoir art program works for her. Be sure to see the video clip of the art program on this page and enjoy the art class photos and art projects in the photo albums.
